Labor rates across Illinois vary by neighborhood and by shop type, from small independents to dealership service bays, and mobile mechanics now cover many routine jobs in the driveway. Before authorizing a repair, ask for the estimate in writing, whether the shop warranties parts and labor (12 months / 12,000 miles is common, some offer more), and whether it can provide a loaner or a shuttle. Check the listing for hours, the makes the shop works on and its Google rating, then call ahead, since walk-in capacity is limited at smaller shops.

I can’t recommend Joliet Tire & Auto enough. Two other places looked at my car and couldn’t find anything — but they did. They took their time, stayed after hours, and were incredibly thorough until they found a hidden tracker in a very unusual spot. Their dedication, honesty, and attention to detail truly stood out. You can tell they genuinely care and don’t rush the job — they do it right. Truly amazing, kind, and trustworthy people. Highly recommend their service!

When people look for a mechanic, the biggest concerns are always the same: Are they going to overcharge me? Do they actually know what they’re doing? Am I being told the truth? Theo has always been upfront and honest from day one. I inherited a 2014 Buick Encore — and if you know those vehicles, you know they’re known for certain turbo-related issues. No scare tactics. Just facts. He’s always been transparent with pricing. In fact, he has encouraged me to compare prices if I wanted to. That kind of confidence says a lot. I’ve never felt overcharged, and I’ve always felt informed. This isn’t a dealership — it’s a skilled, adaptable mechanic shop that works on all kinds of vehicles. I’ve seen everything come th
